The peak and flatty drift

Hi Raiders

Went out on Sunday to try to jig up some kingies at the peak, only managed to jig up 2 barracoutas. Plenty of Boats around the peak but didn't look like anyone was hooking up kings. Still a novice at jigging hope to work it out soon and have more to report.

Had a few rods bottom bashing while jigging and it yielded a legal snapper and a morwong.

The wind was starting to pickup so we headed in closer, just off one of sydney's beaches and did a few drifts.

The wind was strong hence the drift was fast, no sea anchor, was really hard to hold bottom, had to double up on the sinkers and as a result double up on the flatties. :) As you can see.

Scored a few legal flatties and heaps of undersize, by then the sky was threatening and so we headed inside.

Soaked some fresh squid at Molly for an hour while burlying, no kings showed up so packed up and went home.

Great feed of flatties.

Good consolation prize.

Looks like you got the trifecta of flatties: bluespotted, dusky and tiger.

Cheers

Peter

I think Peter is right, that looks like a couple of different species....any ideas? Great catch btw!

Nice catch and yes the three flatties are.... marble( the one with the bars), Tiger( the skinnier ones with the pointier heads and very sharp teeth) and the good old Eastern Blue Spot(The three fat ones). Also that yellow finned pike on the bait board is great eating too. Best eating IMHO is the marble.
