The Poacher
Hi raiders, A friend just came back from wooli and noted the great location, clean environment etc. Can anyone tell me if you can launch and get access to the ocean in a 6metre boat. from google maps it looks like a shallow creek but it may actually be two meters deep. Thanks, The poacher
andrew399
Hi mate, I have not been there in years and only fished it once in a canoe, from memory it definatley is not a shallow creek. It is a beautiful estuary. I cant recall how deep it was but I remember the bar out to the ocean was very small but I would say it is deep enough to get our boat through. Im not sure where ramps are in the system as I just chucked the canoe in where ever... sorry I cant be of more help but im leaning towards yes! andrew399
Did a quick google and youtube search and the answer is yes you can. Here is a clip of some boats heading out through the bar, I read it can be very messy in bad weather! Edited October 13, 2011 by dicko
GUDude
G'Day Poacher, Yes, you can easily launch a 6 meter boat from the Wooli ramp. Then access to the ocean via the bar, as Dicko said it can get really messy and there have been a few boats lost so watch the weather. Cheers, GUDude
The Poacher
Thanks raiders, I often fish out of south west rocks, and they loose plenty of boats on that bar too! I wonder why more people don't go to wooli? See you up there, The poacher
andrew399
Im heading there for a couple of days in march, i think people dont go there much because its kind of in the middle of nowhere! haha and also yamba isnt too far away so I guess more people head there to get outside. I forgot to mention you can beach launch at wooli somewhere as well so you dont have to do the bar crossing if you dont want. It looks like the first guys in that vid might not have done too many crossings before as the waves dont even seem to be breaking over to the right...
