GOOS

Recommended Posts

Finished work late last night. very late. so i thought what the heck, i got all my gear in the car and some squid jigs.

drove to captin cooks bridge, arrived about midnight to find a dead low tide. I set up all 3 rods that i had with different color and weighted jigs. a 3.0, 2.5 and a 2.0 on my 2-4kg.. regardless to say i got nothing for the first hour from the side with the jetty. looks like a normal squiddin session for me again.

drove to other side and couple casts turned into a small squirter.. i thought i was snagged again, but nope. squirt squirt!! :yahoo: before i go any further, i must add that this is my FIRST EVER SQUID purposely caught with a squid jig.. so... :yahoo: :yahoo: is right.

i was reeling it in slowly and all excited about to pull it out and blop...:1badmood:

i was a very sad boy for the next 10mins.. then realized what i did wrong. the drag must of been too tight and during the fight, pulled the hooks to the point that the squid was only hanging on it's finger nails.

loosen the drag.. and 15mins later. a 20cm model is landed. :biggrin2:

i landed one more smaller version within a few casts and i was ecstatic! (Please do not assume this is my first attempt at squidding.... it's my first success after many failures!)

here i thought that i finally cracked the code. and i hear a massive splash in the water. then another. i did not see what is was but assumed it was a huge Jew chasing bait. i BOLT to my car faster that i thought possible to grad my sinkers and hooks. come back to my rods and guess what i see, Dolphins. :angry2: and lots of them.

playing around in the water. i tried squidding for another 30mins but the bastards shut the place down hard.

still happy thou.
