Koalaboi
Hi Everyone, We all know the importance of fresh live bait. I look at the retailers in my area and the range of fresh bait is amazing, and expensive too. Yet I worry about the fact that getting a pippi or beach worm is not as easy as it it used to be. Almost impossible on beaches in my area where not that long ago the pippies were falling out of the sand on every retreating wave. Where do all the pippies and worms in the shops come from? Are they farmed or harvested from the wild? I understand that getting your own bait is time consuming but I reckon it should be a rewarding part of the whole experience of fishing. If the shortages of bait in the wild are due to over harvesting by professionals then maybe it should stop. It would help others too.....the pied oyster catchers in my area love a feed of pippies but I reckon they'd be struggling at times like me.
