Hi Raiders,

Hope the fish are biting down and around your way.

I have got my head around the blackfish here to a minimal degree and will be developing my skills as often as I can. Thanks to all of you who helped by the way, too many to name to be fair.

I am now looking to get out my bigger gear and get myself into the Kings and Jewies. Now I have caught plenty of jew but not down here and never caught a King.....EVER!!!

I am LBG at the moment although anyone who has a spare spot for a keen decky feel free to shout out.

SO i have a 4500 and 6500 baitrunner on the way with a 14 foot fairly stiff and ample spinning rod. I also have a TLD 25 with a short stroke 6-8kg rod currently spooled with 8kg from my stand up billfish days. I will be looking to spool the TLD up with the appropriate gear shortly.

I live in Bondi and the only spot i really know of is Ben Buckler as my mates have slugged some kings from there in the past. However this spot is less than ideal for fishing very often and in a NE wind in summer i think my baloon with a livie will end up closer to the beach than out the front.

SOOOOOOOO who has/ knows any good kingy spots and spots/methods to rig/catch live bait. What lures for spinning, what times are best, tides, moon and anything that you can help me with would be greatly appreciated.

I look forward to hearing from you as always this community is a great help.

If you PM me a spot that you wish me not to pass on then I 100% assure you that it will remain with me.

Cheers,

Cobba

Hi, if your going for LBG fishing then the Tubes at Jervis Bay (south Coast, approx 2.5 hrs from sydney) is a must. You can catch anything from little rock fish to Black marlin. Kingfish can get up to 30kg so quality tackle is advised. I havent fished there myself so dont really know what rigs are the best, but I am going down there in summer. Hope this helps

Might be a good one to pack the tent and spend a week or weekend down there.

Cheers Michael

couple of years ago we fished bass point in wollongong we had out a few balloons one got absolutely smashed about 3 meters from where the rod was it was a kingy it reefed us very smart fish it wouldnt touch the bait while we were all standing near the rods once we walked away it took the bait it also came back a short time later following in a squid jig it came right up to the rocks under the coal bridge
