windredj Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Hi raiders went out of pitty on Sunday morning scored a good sized flatty and a bunch of small ones round the 28m mark, also got some reef species. Not as good as I expected, where are the fish at? As when I got to my car I found a parking ticket for 88 for parking out on the road near bayview boat ramp!!!!! There's no signs saying you carnt and others do it aswell!! Has anyone else been stung and gotten off it?? Really don't think I should pay it as there are no signs saying no parking or limited parking! Cheers
tumra Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 If you can be bothered mate write a letter and contest it. If there is no signage there would be a good chance of getting off.
fryboy Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Whats the fine actually for, it should say on the ticket? Suspect its for parking a vehicle that is too long on the street? The current restrictions say that you cant park anything longer than 4.5m (I think) on the street. The way around this is to disconnect the trailer once you have parked it. Fryboy
Mr Squidy Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 (edited) Thats a $#!% way to end a trip Rich Edited October 31, 2011 by Mr Squidy
windredj Posted October 31, 2011 Author Posted October 31, 2011 yeh the fine is for stop heavy/ long vehicle longer than 1hr !! they got nothing better to do or what! ill try email them and see what happens, thing is i do it all the time and so do others because the parking costs in rowlands reserve is robbery or close too it
Guest Aussie007 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 maybe the council is sick of people using the facility and avoid paying there ticket by parking on the road i think if u use the ramp its only fair to pay for your ticket after all that money goes back into keeping the area nice, tidy and safe i pay every time i use that ramp its under $10 no big deal
fryboy Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I'm also happy to pay for the use of the ramp at Bayview. I mean its in good condition, good clean down areas etc. However, I do feel that the high parking fees deter the regular users. I paid about $20 for 4am to 4pm on Sunday. I think there used to be a $15 cap but that seems to have gone. If I was doing that once a month that would be ok, but i'm using it a few times a month so it adds up to what I consider too much. I've written to council to suggest they implement a yearly pass for Rowland reserve. I'd be happy to pay say $150 per year to use the ramp.
Guest Aussie007 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 the cost are here http://www.pittwater.nsw.gov.au/local_services/parking/parking_-_pay_and_display_areas
myocard Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 (edited) $20 in parking fees to go fishing is a ripoff. The Council collects enough in rates to cover these sorts of basic facilities. Fining you $88.00 because you avoided the parking fees is petty & unnecessary. The general idea of parking meters was to ensure turnover in high traffic areas. (eg) main streets. This was for the benefit of businesses - customers need to be able to park, shop and then be encouraged to move on. Time restrictions and meters worked well for this. There is no need to encourage parking turnover at a boat ramp. I go down there during the week - still have to pay, even though the carpark is basically empty. I don't go there often and these charges are the main reason for that. If that is the aim of Pittwater Council then it is probably working. Does nothing for local businesses who might sell ice/food/fuel/beer if the council is providing disincentives like this. Edited November 1, 2011 by myocard

Slink Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I use that ramp almost every weekend and it is always around 20 bucks , I am now going to buy a sticker from the council for about $164 ( i think ). What I am puzzled about though is although it is one of the only ramps around here that you have to pay for ( also roseville ) why can't the council install quality fish cleaning tables ? What are you meant to do , you are not permitted to clean fish before coming in (which I can understand as some people will keep undersize fish ) and there is nowhere to do so at the ramp. What I now do is after I wash down the boat and fishing gear is to then take the catch to Longreef ramp where there is a cleaning table and do so there. I just think that for the amount of money that we all spend to park our car and trailer for the day that Pittwater council could install a couple of stainless steel top cleaning tables with sinks and running water so we can all get the boats and fish cleaned at the same place. Its a pain in the butt having to go clean fish elsewhere after the days fishing. Also how many of you have come in after the council have turned off the water at the boat wash down area ? How good is that !! Go pittwater council , you guys are tops !! Brad
fryboy Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Hey Slink, Is there already a sticker for Rowland reserve? I'm a pittwater resident, and the pittwater permits we get with the rates are specifically not usable at Rowland..... So please dont buy a standard pittwater sticker with the intention of using it for the Rowland boat ramp... But do let me know if there is a sticker available for Rowland...
fryboy Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Slink's post made me check the website, and there sure is already a specific Sticker for Rowland reserve. I'lll be getting one of these babies as soon as I can get down there. I reckon $168 for a years worth of parking there is ok. http://www.pittwater.nsw.gov.au/local_services/parking/parking_permits/rowland_reserve_parking_permit
myocard Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 (edited) didnt u just contradict your self? u dont want to encourage pay for parking yet u still go there and pay the fee there not going to remove the meters if people are paying the fee Well I have a couple of options. I can risk it and not pay. I can park on the street and risk it again. Or I can pay, even though I think it is a bad deal. So I choose the third option. Occasionally. What I also do is choose elsewhere most times I go out. Avoiding the place permanently is not a bad idea though. As I mentioned - local business will suffer. But who cares - as long as the carpark is empty it is a job well done. Edited November 1, 2011 by myocard
fryboy Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Hi I dont think you have to risk anything to park on the street. Just disconnect the trailer from the car when you park it. That should get you out of the 7.5m restriction(but lock the trailer!) fryboy
windredj Posted November 2, 2011 Author Posted November 2, 2011 Was thinking of getting a rowlands sticker but still is expensive, you go to Roseville ramp and it is 7 bucks for the day. If you go to pitty and pay the ticket every weekend like I do $20 for parking adds up quickly. Grrr angry !!
