Went for a quick fish this morning, taking a couple of newbies and one experienced angler. Swell was reported to be around 3m, so we decided to fish a sheltered spot near Wattamolla in the RNP. It was a run up tide this morning, so not ideal, but the fish were certainly there and hungry. The swells were indeed big, so we had to watch out at all times. Sat and watched for 30 mins before wetting a line. The action was hot, with multiple hookups. Dropped a few fish which washed up onto the shelf, but got churned around in the backwash and either threw the hook or busted the leader. I ended up with 11 nice fish, Rick with 7, newbie John with 5 and newbie Bob with 2. They were all very happy. John lost a float and rig with fish attached, but that happens sometimes off the ocean rocks.

This is the spot we stood. Have to watch the backwash, which is higher than the incoming swell at times.

Nice wash going out. Held loads of fish.

Never do I get sick of your reports Stormy but you wont get any PMs from me about that spot with water breaking over the rocks :1yikes:

Well done mate but you have much bigger kahonas than me :biggrin2:

We certainly didn't stand there when the swell rolled in. About 5 mins between sets and we could also stand up higher - which we did - to be safe. As you can see from one of the pics, Bob was standing at the same spot quite safely in between sets.

Hey Stromy you can never get sick of Blackfish reports. The pictures are great.

Any sign of weed on the rocks? I walk into little Marley but have not made the effort with the big seas.

Your report is very interesting.

Thanks,

Geoff
