Big Berg Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Hey fellow raiders. I am heading to Culburra next week and was wondering how the fishing is there. I have never fished there and was hoping someone cam give me a few pointers. I will be bringing a my beach/rock gear as well as my light gear. I am hoping to target jewies, bonitos, salmon and kingies. Can anyone give me some pointers on where to fish and what baits works best. Any advice will be great Thanks

Any advice will be great Thanks Just south of culburra is jervis bay and there are heaps of landbased fishing there including the tubes, mermaids inlet and almost every beach around here is worth giving a shot. When fishing the tubes you will need quality tackle, you can catch some very big kings off here. Salmon and bonito are also possible with all of your standard rock fish, but for kings I would probably use livies, but normal bait can work. there is also another beach Steamers beach but is on the south side of jervis bay, so it would take around an hour to get there but fishes great. It is a top spot fo salmon, tailor and fishes well for species like bream, whiting, kingfish, but im not sure about jewies or bonito. PM me if you need anymore help and I want to see a report on it.
Guest Finno Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Was down at culburra about a month ago fishing the beaches for a few days and did alright. The whiting and bream should be starting to bite and should still be a few salmon still around. Try using live beach worms they work a treat on the whiting and bream as well as the odd flathead, if you cant catch them u can buy they from the local tackle shop there but they sell pretty quick. For salmon try a whole or a half pillie in one of the many gutters at dusk or dawn and u will be in with a decent chance. Sorry cant give u any info about the kings or bonito. Hope it helps good luck.

Hi Michael JB sounds very tempting but I will be taking the kids with me so that kinda crosses out rock fishing. I have heard that some of the locals aroung JB (especially the Tubes) are very territorial and don't like newcombers. I will definitely try to sneek off a quick session on the rocks. I will most likely be doing alot of beach fishing so hopefully I get something to get the kids excited Thanks for tips Brian
