Formosan Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 (edited) Hi Guys Hit the water on sunday with bro in laws and a mate, got some Yakka and squids and tried Molly for nothing then trolled south for nothing until we saw a boat hooking up. We proceed to do the same as the other boat nearby but not going too close as we all need to give each other room and respected that they were there first. It seems the fish were in close to the rocks so we motor in and drifted out, my ship mates were starting to hook up on Kings and I can't even get a nibble, I was wishing maybe I should of stayed at home today. Without giving up I had a look at their rigs, compare to mine thir leader after the sinker was only 1 meter or shorter and mine was like 1.5 metres and sometimes the leader twist around the sinker. So I quickly made the adjustment and it worked. Now all of us are hooking up on kings (even me now) and our drags were going crazy, it was a blast to say the least. Most were rats but we landed one keeper, a few busted us off and felt like keepers for sure. It appears the lighter lines get more hits but you are likely to be busted off, if you go higher you get less hits. They were taking Yakkas, Squid strips and even yakka fillets. After landing about 10-12 kings, we motor south to Bate bay and banked in some flatties and got some Scorpion fish and bakers as by catch. Sorry for the lack of photos (so you can't make out where the spot X is ) no time to take photos when the action is hot. so the moral to the story for me is copy what's working on the day. dhype Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 mate - that is a nice haul of fish.. well done. Sounds like you had a ball with the kings and good to see that you found a keeper amongst the rats. I was out on the weekend too but found the Bay DEAD... only managed a few fish for ALOT of work... bumped into Scotty Lyons with his green machine and he too was finding the going tough.. so what you have is a very good catch!. See you around. Cheers Trung
Formosan Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 Thanks mate... we were lucky to find the kings. Haven't bumped into you this summer yet, We mostly dug out outside once we have bait. Can't wait for the surface action inside the bay to happen like last summer and molly pt to fire up.
