mako2000
A bit of a wierd question here, but does anyone have a picture of a large flathead scale. Reason being I was flicking some plastics around the Woronora River yesterday morning when I had a massive hit and something screamed off about 40 metres of line before the hook pulled. Upon retreiving the lure a large scale was embedded on the hook point(obviously foul hooked). The scale definately wasnt bream or mullet and its been that long since I have caught a large flatty just want to be sure. Unfortunatley I didnt have a camera or phone on me but the scale was about 6mm across with a brown tinge across the bottom edge.
BreamChaser
My bet would be a Jew Flathead scales are not big at all. Very small compared to other fish of the same size.
mako2000
Thanks Bream Chaser, could possibly have been a Jew, and it was the size of the scale that is throwing me, if it helps it was at 9.30am, direct sunlight on the water and probably only 2ft deep, with a small scholl of poddy mullet scattering around the area.
