matt17
Hey everyone I'm looking for a new kingy setup for the harbour.. do you think 3500 sized rell would be right? and I was also wondering if a snapper soft plastic rod would be ok for fishing for kingies.. any suggestions on any other combo? thanks! the one that got away
Hey everyone I'm looking for a new kingy setup for the harbour.. do you think 3500 sized rell would be right? and I was also wondering if a snapper soft plastic rod would be ok for fishing for kingies.. any suggestions on any other combo? thanks! 4000 sized reel, 10kg soft plastic rod, 20lb braid generally and leaders would vary depending on location and situation. Maybe saying what you budget is, would get you more specific responses. Cheers,Zac
fishmaniac
Mate, there are plenty of good threads on the site with heaps of different opinions. My experiences, I have caught plenty of kings on 8lb spin gear with a 2500 reel but I also have caught them on outfits up to 80lb. Chasing rats of even legals when they are feeding on the surface in open water, then yea you can use that reel. If you want to chase the big boys or fish very close to structure, then 50lb+ is the go!
iMick
Like above, go 50lb+. I've been done over locked drag on 50lb near structure and it really spoils your mood. Mick
