the one that got away
Ive found a spot that a few people have said they see Jewies get landed regulary, so its only a matter of time now. Then that got me thinking, what to do with your baits after you've caught them? This spot is almost impossible to catch live bait from, so im forced to use dead bait. I caught some yakkas and a tailor yesterday, during the day, but didnt know what to do with it? So i simply left in the bucket with some water (mind you it was dead), then before i left for home,, emptied out the water, and left them in the bucket for acouple of hours, then butterflied them and threw them out? So after catching your bait that your planning to use, that night, the day after, what do you do with it? Especially squid?! Cheers guys, Zac

Cheers guys, Zac If you look after the squid well you can either eat it or freeze it and use it next time. Freeze them in zip lock bags. Don't wash or clean them in fresh water. There is nothing wrong with using dead bait for jews. People will tell you jews prefer dead baits anyway & butterfly yakkas rather than live baiting. I never keep yakkas or tailor. Prefer to use them fresh.
stevefish
if you catch a fish and are not going to eat it for a day or 2 do you leave it in a bucket wih some water in it. . .then take the water out of the bucket and leave it a bit longer. fish eat more fish than you and me so they know if whats in front of them is fresh or not. put it on ice and out of the sun from the minute its caught to the minute it goes on a hook or in the pan.
