Onajewagain
Hit up the goon in the yaks this morning. Met down at deep creek reserve at 4:30 with 2 others to throw them in. Paddled out to a ripper sunrise, fluffy white clouds and just the right temp. Water was a good 20-22 deg (guessing only) and a little murky from the rain. The attack plan, flatties!!! Armed with a pouch of trusted SP's, we paddled up towards the rowing club to hit the banks around to the point on the east side. First hook up went to the brother at about 530, but busted the 6lb leader!! Damn finesse fishing! Not long after, he hooked up again, this time a nice 51 cm flattie in the net! An early morning celebratory jb and coke and a dart, and back into it. Third crack at about 7am, another buet fish at 52 cm. Although only a tiny bit bigger, alot more weight in it with a big head. Went a bit slow after that but heaps of bream to 25cm in between on prawns. About 8 am, just after the tide turn, another hook up, this time a stonker flattie, all the way to the yak, and paddling like mad to get to him with the net, spat the hook to see it gently swim away with a smirk on it's face. Sometimes you could swear they are just having you on. Did ok with a few more hits but nothing else landed. Headed in at 1030 to go home for a beer and a feed. Happy with the session, and good to see some quality fish, rather than being raided by little suckers. No pics sorry, the minister won't let me take the camera on the yak, but I will be eating well tonight!
