mgj
Just back from NZ where we landed plenty of kings between 10 and 24kg on jigs and livies. On the fly I landed kings between 5 and 20+kg-wild tussles! On the 20+kg model on 30lb leader the king peeled off 100m of braid backing in double quick time. The fly reel screamed and the skipper liked that one. It was the biggest king on fly landed on the boat ever. Also I landed horse salmon. Finally I landed a 30lb snapper on a livie-it was the size of a GT! The weather was bad and we only got out 3 out of 4 days. Mark Just got back from New Zealand Edited December 18, 2011 by mgj

luderick -angler
Awesome stuff who did you charter with? They are the kings dreams are made of especially on fly andit takes a special kind of guide to put you on fish like that and land them! Well I can vouch for the fishing there (fresh and salt) lived there for 4 years and well it makes up for the weather or as they say HTFU!!!!!!!!! mgj
Everyone would enjoy that place. The snapper was caught on a deep livie. Also the bakery in that place makes the best pies that I've tasted. Mark Edited December 19, 2011 by mgj
