Hi everyone,

Very amateur fisherman here (once a year).

Going to sussex inlet over new years period, was looking for absolutely any information on good spots to fish (from shore), bait to use, common species, tackle to use, really any info possible.

just going to buy a couple of new general fishing rods, some burley and a bait catcher.

Would appreciate any tips at all - as I said I'm very amateur. Aim is to catch a couple of eatable fish and become hooked on fishing again ;)

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thankyou!

If you do a search on here in the forums mate you will find quite a few reports from down there I know I have made a few myself..

At the end of the main street there is a boat shed near the RSL, not only do they hire boats, But I am sure they can give you better info on what is biting at the time and where.. Also for More great advise oppposite the IGA store there is a great little tackle shop. This guy has been there longer than I remember and has some great gear and is always in the know..

You cant go past Local knowledge mate. I had most of my luck at night when shore based pretty much anywhere along the inlet but it has been a couple of years since I was down there shore based.. Good luck mate and look forward to the report :1fishing1:

[Hi Craig, Prawns, mullet or mullet gut are good baits to start with. Try to fish close to structures such as wharves or moored boats. Use a sinker that is just heavy enough to hold the bottom and baitholder hooks work well. Hope you catch a few, Neil.
