Guest Aussie007
if u can see the poddy mullet use a clear bait trap the exact one pictured (i pinched the bait trap pic from google pics) get a small 600mls coke bottle take any stickers/wrappings off u want the bottle and trap to be clear otherwise it deters the fish tie the bottle to the trap so the trap will float at the top of the water use 50-100lb clear fishing line tie one end to the trap/coke bottle now sneak up on the fish dont walk down to the water right where the poddys are u will spook them once down at the water chuck 1/4th slices of bread into the water in front of u and one or two near the poddys u can see on the surface they will eventually swim around untill they are in front of u put a small bit of bait into the trap chuck the trap out right on the fish it will scare them but they will be back within a couple of minutes now chuck more bread around the trap the poddys will go into a feeding frenzy and u will catch a full trap full in about 20 seconds than as quickly as u can pull the trap in some will excape but u will have plenty of live bait

The Incredible Hull
Hey Buddy, I'm constantly at chipping norton "trying" to catch poddies, in fact I was there this arvo I catch them the hard way... which is using a sabiki rigg with 6 hooks - I had 2 rods going. I tried a trap before before it didn't produce for me, so I stuck to sabiki rigs. All you need is: a float stopper - I use those little rubber\plastic ones that come in a small bunch and u peel it on your line, they're good cause you can slide it up and down the main line to change how deep you want your hooks a small floater - I use a very small one, about the size of a golf ball if not smaller, white bottom and orange top. tie on the sabaki rig - I usually cut off those little plastic things on the hooks, but thats my preference I rig it with tiny pieces of bread, squeezed on at the bottom of the rig, I tie on a very small sinker - this keeps the rig tangle free and easy to cast. I tend to catch 1 every 30mins or so. There's a number of places, at boat ramps around chippo would be a place to start. Also Milperra Bridge is a decent place, you can park your car right where you're fishing. And they are so easy to keep alive, just use fresh tap water, and a subtle (not strong) filter. I say subtle as they generally die due to stress. Any questions, feel free to PM me mate dave
yting
Sounds familar, I tried for years in the Georges and eventually gave up as the poddies just won't trap. Try a different system. The Hacking worked first time for me. Good luck with the little blighters! Davemmm
Cordial bottle, the ones with the flat sides, small rectangular hole about 20mm x 30mm with the corners cut so that about 5mm flaps can be pushed down at about 45 degrees. Lump of lead tied to the bottom. Place it where the poddies are with a couple of inches of water over it. Don't put big pieces of bread in the trap, rip a half a slice into about 5mm square pieces. there are miles of spots in the George's where this will work but the best spots will be tidal flats with rock around them.
