caranx
Wrap ice around the joint and let it cool down , then twist slowly and pull apart.
mullowhat
another method is to lightly tap the join a few times with a rubber mallet. Then a spray with silicone spray. Then used good quality cloth tape on both sides of the join to help with grip when twisting - one then second person if needed.
luderick -angler
Is it a metal ferrule or glass to glass?

Davemmm
The ice method works, well it did for me. keep the ice on the part of the rod that is the inner bit. Dave
abecedarian
I had that problem once years ago when fishing the south coast. The day was hot but then turned cold in the evening and when I went to pack up my rod it was stuck fast. Wouldn't have been a problem if it wasn't a 12ft surf rod and the car a small Mazda...
