kts350
G'day All, My Daughters want me to teach them how to fish which should be funny as I'm hopeless, but I am wanting to know if anybody a good land based spot in Sydney that i can take them to. The last couple Of times I've been fishing with guys from work have been to spots that arent really child friendly and I can't think of anywhere else to take them. Any help is greatly appreciated.. Cheers, Wayne
Bashful
Wayne, I'd head up to Narrabeen lake..by the sounds of it, there's a good chance you'll catch something. One of the raiders - Marky posted this report recently: http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=60791&st=0&p=427798&hl=narrabeen&fromsearch=1entry427798 Other than that, I fish out of botany bay (land based) which is child friendly but may not be as productive as Narrabeen. You can park the car a stones throw in the car park, and the turn off is off lakehurst parkway into Lake Park Rd: Search Aqua Fun Park Narrabeen on google maps and shows you the exact spot. The fact it is a metre or so higher than the water, learning to cast there will be pretty easy. Should catch a few brim, maybe a flatty and whiting or two. MikeR
Hi KTS Any of the beaches in Botany Bay will be safe and productive spots for all of your usual suspects. The area around La Perouse and Bumborah Point has nice little beaches where the whole family can relax, have a BBQ, some beers (for the adults) , and a swim to wind down after a hard day's fishing! Good luck! Mike
bump73
If you just want to wet a line target the carp in the freshwater sections of Parra river. Lots of fun to fish for and i'd rather catch a 50-70cm carp over undersized bream that you'll get in Narrabeen lake. Ben

lostproperty
Davidson park in Roseville is a good option either under the bridge or just to the right of the pylons, best in the arvo try light line small hooks, small sinkers as u don't need to cast very far peeled prawns work best, use pillies chopped up to burley and soaked bread, caught plenty of bream, snapper and tailor as well, Most undesized but perfect for kids
GABBA
Hi could you tell be where these freshwater sections of the parramatta river are that hold carp. I also agree, it might be more FUN to catch a decent size carp then a small bream. Nevertheless, as a kid I liked catching anything.
