Manning River

Morning all,

I am off on my annual pilgrimage North next week, heading to Manning Point as the base camp and looking to drag the boat further north to Crowdy Head for a couple of day trips outside only so we can call back past the Harrington Pub for a cleansing ale and a feed on the way home.

In the past we have had little success other than at Farquar outlet off the bank and driving the beach looking for gutters. Is anyone able to provide info or some tips on where we might try either in the river or out from Crowdy?

Any help is appreciated, have sent Brickman an e-mail, so any additional help would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Doods.

Hi, go to the coast gaurd building at harrington and pick up the map, it has gps coordinates of a lot of grounds around crowdy and further north, in between crowdy and north to blackhead there is some close in reefs, good for snapper, flathead etc. excellent weather here now. glad I live here! woo hooo!

With regard to the Harrington BAR, would not even think about it, although I have not been outside there I have been going there for the past 7 years and would not reccomend it to my mother. It's well worth the short drive further on to Crowdy head and the ramp there adjacent the Fish Co-op, probably one of the best you will find. There is a sheltered cove there and spits you straight out into open water.

Harrington bar crossing is a no no unless you want to lose your boat and/or life.

Even the locals wont use it, it has been done but you gotta be so close to the breakwall you could touch the wall as you went in and out of there haha.

Thanks guys, I looked at on google earth and it didn't look good so no surprises there, googled the crowdy head one and it looks pretty sweet. Chances are I will not head off shore anyway...just nice to know before i head up.

Doods if you see a bloke in a quintex 520 spirit (pure spirit) or a blue hilux sr5 with a black TJM bullbar and lightforce spotties say hi.

thanks again

Mmmmm Crowdy!

My favorite snapper spot ever!

Snappers in the morning, put boat on trailer and drive to Harrington pub for lunch and then drop the boat back in for an arvo session.

Heaven!
