Also just been televised on ABC News A rescue operation is underway after a boat sank off Palm Beach in Sydney's north this morning. Four people, including two men and two children, have been pulled from the water by the Westpac chopper and will be taken to Long Reef Beach. Rescuers were alerted to people clinging to an Esky near Dee Why beach, Sky News reports.Two men and two children were pulled from the water by a Westpac rescue chopper after they set off an emergency beacon, a NSW Police spokesperson said. "Four persons located off North Head clinging to Esky," The helicopter crew's Twitter account said. "Life raft dropped and survivors in raft." fryboy Posted January 5, 2012 Share Posted January 5, 2012 Looks like they did everything right - lifejackets on and EPIRB activated. Probably saved them. In the reports I'm reading, it seems to suggest that they called 000 and said they were just off Palm Beach, but they were found 1 hour later near either Dee Why or North Head (depending on reports).
