Penguin
Hi everyone, Sorry for late post, I've been busy with a new baby arrival. A mate and I took my sons out for an afternoon fish in Botany bay on the 1st of Jan. We went in search of squid as we wanted to use them to tempt any kings that may be around. Well the squid were easy to cum by, we had many hook ups and plenty of ink on the boat. My mate is also a fellow fishraider who at this stage wishes to remain nameless, because of the shot of squid ink that found a home on his face We had squid in our bait tank and in two buckets, I wish they were always this easy. After we had our squid quota we went in search of kings, in two hours of trying our live squid at several spots, we failed miserably The wind was blowing pretty hard so we found a sheltered spot to anchor up at and start a berley trail. Not much was happening at all, eccept for some annoying Port Jackson sharks. One of my sons manages to bag two flatties at 42 and 44cm and a whiting 38cm. My other son hooks and lands his first Jewy at 62cm, he was rapt at bagging a new species. With our squid tally down to sixteen now, we pulled up anchor and set off for home. We may have got no kings today, but It was squid for dinner and Jewy and Flatties for lunch the next day cheers heres a few pics The squid in our livie tank and buckets One of three annoying PJ's My son and his Jewy
dhype
Hey Penguin Nice catch of squid you have there!! Your report mirrors what I have encountered over the past week or so in the Bay... bucket loads of squid but no fish to feed them to! The plus side to no big kings etc is that there is more squid for the table!! Still waiting for the Kings to come into the bay and for the Dollies to arrive at the FADs... Cheers Trung

Keflapod
Hey Penguin, That's a whole lotta calamari rings ! Well done - I bet as soon as the kingies move in, you would be sick of eating squid. Even the biggest squid you get will have no histation in being impaled on a twin-hook rig and sent to the depths. Won't be long when you will be posing with some solid hoodies and complaining of the lack of squid...hehe... Well done and congrats on the birth of a little penguin (penguinette ?) ...and well done to your sons getting their flatties, whiting and jewie respectively. You're blessed with a fishing-loving family. Won't be long before your daughter has to choose between shopping and fishing as a hobby. If she decides to do both, take her to a tackle shop fast !
