lostproperty
Bummer it's always the way, hookin into a king on my 8lb line always sucks so feel ur pain. Wat were people hooking onto out at 12 mile ?
zen801
Doesn't it hurt when lures fail like that. I call it CPOS tackle and we lost a nice black marlin last year because the cheap pink skirt failed were it turns back on itself and is crimped closed. CPOS stands for Cheap Peice of S##t. Was that a good quality brand? My mates won't let me even bring em on the boat anymore. Cheers and next time I am sure you'll get it to the boat. nautica
nahhh the dollies are as small as they can get and the lure was not cheap but i replaced the hook last week along with half of the other lures .i will be taking the hooks back to the tackle store .for the price you pay and you get that crap im not happy at all. ohh and to the 12 mile question there was a small amount of bait stacked up just on 10 miles out 3 stripes and 1 black from 2 boats . Noodles
Do you know what brand of hook that was? That is an unusual failure and it must have been faulty. That type of failure indicates either that it was already cracked or the metal was brittle due to poor heat treatment in manufacture. A hook should straighten out before it snaps like that. I only use Marutos or Mustads on game lures as that would make me want to cry. I once had a box of 4/0 gang hooks that were absolutely useless and cost me several fish before I threw them in the rubbish. The dollies up at FAD 14 off Swansea are still very small as well but they grow fast so it shouldn't be long. Weather permitting I'll try again tomorrow.
