kmatch
Fished out of Brooklyn yesterday in about 50-60m of water, just after a feed of flatties but prepared if something a bit larger was lurking around. Stopped at the pill boxes and quickly filled the tank with yakkas. I havent seen that many in the area in a long time, they were thick! Then headed off for a drift in around 50m of water. Only managed a couple of flatties there and was a bit slow so we moved on to another spot in 60m. Caught about half a dozen flaties and then noticed a mako in our trail. We quickly set up a rod with a wire trace and sent out a livie. He was a little too smart for that and was not interested, we switched to a mono leader with a dead yakka and we were on! after a short fight we had him boat side but the flying gaff didnt hold and off he went again! got him back and this time the gaff shot stuck. Ended up with the mako and 8 flatties for the day. Had the flathead for tea last night and am looking forward to flake for dinner tonight!

noelguyau
Great catch mate, what sort of location where you, north of the entrance of broken bay or south off palmy area, Ive been madly trying to fish that area with no luck at the moment- Were you specifically burlying for sharks or did he come into your trail.
