Got busted off late last week so my hopes were getting higher Could only manage 2 pretty small squid and as it was getting dark, i thought its now or never! Dropped the 1st squid down on a twin hook rig using the good old "Poor mans downrigger", 1st pass nothing, second pass and my Tekoda 700 takes off!!! Drove him out into deeper/safer water and after a good tusstle landed my PB king of 85cm Dropped my second squid down but got nailed by pesky bream/pinkies. Pretty happy by extending my biggest from 83cm to 85cm. Was using 30LB braid with 40LB leader... Bring on the next one i say... As for the poor mans down rigger i just use a small - medium bean sinker above about 6' of flourocarbon leader and just walk the boat in and out of gear and let the bait just drift up and down nice and slow behind the boat.
