Newbie to Fishing Syd

Hi, I'm a Newbie and have just bought my first Gen Purpose ROd and Tackle, would like to find out where good spots to fish in Botany Bay area or Port Hacking area

are you fishing on a boat? or are you fishing on land?

I know that tom ulgy bridge is a pretty good spot for people starting out. It is pretty safe

Hi Ridesh, Land based, have tried Lilli Pilli,(1 just legal Blue swimmer), Wombarra rock fishing, (2 Bream 30cm) Captain Cook and Tom Ugly's Bridges, (nothing), will be looking at the harbour next.

Under the Harbour bridge (luna park side).

Will need heavier sinkers as the current is strong. There will be other fishermen and not all of them will have patience if you tangle your line with theirs.

bait: squid,pilchard,chicken

lookout: when reeling in empty, keep the speed up as the last 30mtr is notoriously snag prone.

time: catch the high tide at night. early morning is also very productive.

never fished there but as far as I can remember, fishing from the harbour on the western side of the bridge was discouraged due to high level of toxins. Although if you are a "catch n' release" fisharoo like me, that should not be a problem.
