Connecting over fishing

Hello hello,

Just wondering whether anyone here has any nice stories of connecting with people over fishing. Have you ever made a deeper connection with a parent or grandparent, sibling, child, friend, neighbour....or even a stranger you only just met at the fishing spot?

It is a great thing to connect with people with similar likes

Fishraiders are doing it everyday here. We have connected with so many people over the few years we have run this website. I remember 2 years ago when I had a heart attack how many raiders wished me gl and a speedy recovery. There is a thread here with so many replies and views that it astounds me.

We have witnessed raiders help others and even have identified mentors that have adopted a learner.

Other raiders have helped people who have had hardship. Raiders have helped people who were robbed of their tackle by sending them gear.Raiders have come to the party to help others with boat problems, disabilities etc etc

I am sure there will be some nice stories that others post here.

Hello hello,

Been fishing at my spot now for three years and have made three acquaintances there(mid 50yo's, im a young looking 33 btw). They see me nearly everyday and always come over to say hi, even if they arent fishing; I guess they can see me from where they live. Fishing there daily I see a whole lot of people but never give up my secrets. At times I wish some groups never saw what I catch as usually that means the area is unfishable for the next couple of days or so.

Call me selfish, a snob, or an arrogant so and so but I rarely talk to anyone I dont see often, if they ask me I tell them a little but not the whole story. I've put in a lot of hours fishing where I do and have pretty much worked out the area. If someone asks for help though, I'm more than happy to lend a hand. If they come up and start talking rubbish I generally just ignore them, likewise if I'm ever asked what side of the place to fish is better, I respond with a "its water aint it".

I a pretty good judge of character, so I know who I should be having connections with.

Mick
