craigbutcher
Hi Raiders, Had a good time away with the family up the north coast in sleepy YAMBA. Plenty of waves etc, however, a highlight was drifting ANGOURIE WIDE on the snapper grounds for SPOTTY MACKERELL. We floated baits out the back of the boat on the the surface and drifted over the 40-50metre reefs. It usually wasn't more than 10 minutes before ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. We could have bagged out (6) on these units each session, however, just took home 2 for the plate as they are solid fish! on another note, there are plenty of solid whiting in the harbour and up the northern beaches at the mo. Got this 43cm model on an unweighted live nipper using 8lb leader, pretty stoked as it was my personal best! I had heard some local crew cracking the 45cm mark early mornings on anything from worm, nippers, to prawn.
andrew399
nice work on the macks mate! Im heading up there in a month or so, do you have to travel far from the bar to hit the mackeral grounds? Were you just floating pillies back or using livies? Its a pretty tame bar up there right?
