mad_mullet
hi people, decided to take the boat for a run on sat morning in hope to trawl up some bonnies along the coast line of botany, headed out of the bay and put the small skirts out on out small rods, trawled all the way to weddingcake for nothing so headed for the peak but still nothing, headed back to the coastline and towards botany again sticking metres off the rocks and pulling the lures through the wash, all of a sudden double hook and the girlfriends rod starts screaming (2-4kg t curve with 2500 symetre) i was steering us out away from the rocks thinking we just had some bonnies when she says my reel is nearly out of line, as a mate was trying to untangle his hookup with the 3rd rod he dropped his fish, i look at her reel to see its about 10 metres from the knot, i yell hang on, slam reverse hard and the line runs out to the knot just as the boat was reversing hard the fish turns hard and we thought we dropped it, i tell her to wind fast, and not sure if it was droped or not on the fast retrieve the line goes flying past us in the other direction, then the rod buckles again, about now i was thinking must be a king, so as a club points day i chased this fish for a good 15 minutes to hit the know again then finally got it boat side to discover it was a small yellowfin,,,wtf i was confused so quickly put the lures in again and trawl past the same spot to hook up a 3rd, ended up busting off two fish but the girlfriend landed her first yellowfin weighing 3.5 kg on 3kg line,, was an awesome day on the water and ended up with a top feed for diner, the weathers getting great tight lines to all and see you on the water cheers andy

Crusher
Well done. We got a YFT this time last year about 2 miles off Jibbon. 2.7kg and took a Marlin lure. I amazed how the YFT pop up out of nowhere at times like this and then disappear again just as quickly. Edited February 7, 2012 by Crusher

Rabs
Hi, Nice little fin, me personally would be torn between making it dinner with soy/wasabi/beer and put a 14/0 on it's nose and towing it east on string a little heavier than you caught it on - dinner or bait???????
