Dendy
Fisho's I'm new to Fishraider , this is my first report.. Moved to Sydney from Melbourne 6 months ago still getting a feel for the fishing locations and techniques which are different to what i was used too when chasing Snapper in Port Phillip. I like what i see and there are many options, location and species to target within close proximity. Reading the Fish raider reports have been a great help for a new local fisho getting started.. Had a day a off work yesterday , decided to head to BB , launched off the Foreshore ramp - this is without doubt the best ramp i have ever used. Was targeting Kingies first up as i have heard some mixed reports of late.. Got on to some livies the other side of Molonex point the yakkas weren't easy to get, but managed a few in the tank. Then headed over near Bare island, landed a couple of nice squid on the drift in close then went back to Mol point near the wall, rigged up for some Kings. I noticed a another boat near me landing a few rat kings , then got on to a larger fish but lost it near the boat. Soon after my rod with the live Yakka went off great fight on light gear was only a rat king around 58cm - small but was my first Sydney King !!, then 20 minutes later got a huge run on the fresh squid but got off after a couple of minutes felt like a much larger fish, all went very quiet after that. I head over to Doll's point as i had bought some fresh prawn and tube worm in the morning , managed to land 5 nice whiting 35cm, 3 tarwine 25cm , 1- 40cm flathead and a nice thumper trevally around 42 cm, amongst those there was allot of undersize snapper around stealing the bait.. By that that stage is was around 1pm and the wind got up , decided to head back to the ramp.. Not a bad day...
bluebottle18
Good start there. Sounds like you got the feel of BB pretty quickly. Don`t think we can match Port Phillip in the size of the snapper you can catch down there. I agree Foreshore boat ramp is pretty impressive. Hope you have many more successful trips.
