charzy87
Hey Guys, Just hoping you guys can give me some advice on where is good to go beach fishing as we have just brought 2 12 foot surf rods. Would love to catch some decent size fish to be able to take home to eat and would love any tips for locations, rigs and if anyone is interested in joining us out beach fishing would be great. Hope to hear back from you guys soon. Thanks Charzy

Spooooled
I know Stanwell park and Bulli produce some nice fish every now and then so try to give them a shot if your able for bigger species i just normally stick with normal star sinker hooked onto a clip then swivel then trace, if using worms i think ur best bet would be a patanoster rig, thats my 2 cent lol anyways goodluck
Mondo Rock
Charzy - all Sydney beaches produce good fish, but some of them are more accessible than others. For exanmple Maroubra and Coogee are great beaches for fishing - but you can forget fishing them between 7am and 7pm on most days as the crowds make it almost impossible. Beaches like Cronulla, on the other hand, fish just as well but are also big enough that you can fish during the day while avoiding the corwds. My best beach fishing tips are as follows: 1. Fish dawn or dusk if you want to maximise your catch 2. Fish the 3 hour run-up to high tide and an hour past (an 8am/8pm high tide is ideal). 3. Put bigger cut-fish baits in the deeper looking water, but keep your prawn/worm baits in the shallower channels. 4. Use a running sinker rig with leader no longer than 50cm (google "running sinker rig" if you don't know what this is). 5. Slow wind after casting - drag your bait slowly across the bottom until you feel a bite and then stop and wait. Sometimes the fish are right at your feet so drag it all the way in. 6. Keep your line light - 15lb mono is the heaviest you will need for surf-fishing (unless you're chaing jewies). 7. If you're not catching fish within 30 minutes then MOVE to another spot on the beach. But the best tip of all - the most important thing to know - is this: just go and do it. Don't waste your time trying to plan the perfect trip with guaranteed results - just go to a beach and throw your bait in. As long as you're fishing in summer with light line with good bait (especially good fresh hawkesbury prawns or live beachworms) you'll catch a fish or two. Maybe even 10. Nothing I can tell you over the internet will ever come close to what you will learn from just going out there and getting some experience under your belt.
