sean221
Early today me and the Mrs were deciding upon what to do on a sunday, so she proposed that i went for a fish while she went for a shop. The shop she went to was very close to the water so i sent her off and i explored the area. Found a parking lot and started to set up. Realising i left my jigheads at home i was speqing, then remembered i had some spares in the squidgie packets, and i just had to use them. damn! I found a set of stairs that led down to the parra river, and it was on the run out tide so along the shore the rocks full of oysters were starting to be exposed. i found a way to get down onto the shore full of oysters and there was also a long bridge just at the top of me so shade and the big pillars looked like a decent spot for some fish. I was using my sp set up of 1 lb fireline, and 4 lb flurocarbon leader. put on a paddle tail squidgie in a clear/pink colour and cast it just behind the pylon. First cast i hopped the lure on the bottom and about the 5th hop, i felt a heavy weight, and line started screaming out. and BAM! I was on. with such a light set up i had the drag not so tight, lifting the rod above my head trying to keep the fish off the bottom where the oyster rocks were the fish gave big head shakes. after a couple of minutes and three very strong runs, i pulled in a very good sized flathead. i was surprised the line had held up. I braught the flat head onto a rock full of moss and took a few photos. The flattie aprox. measured up in the 50-55 cm mark easy. I let the fish go, and watched it slowly swim into the depths. Best feeling ever. I was very happy with the catch and the rest of the time i was there no bites, nothing. Still very satesfied. Heres a picture of the fish. I dont really wanna give the spot away i was at, but there was another old bloke there fishing for some blackfish. He said hes fished there for a long time and always caught something, so i guess ill just keep this spot to myself and the old bloke. Thanks for readin! Sean221.
