Brian
Hi Raiders, We caught this fish around Fish Rock last week. They were pretty thick around a large pinical and coming up almost to the surface. Can anyone identify it? Cheers, Brian

I saw a large school last week at gymea. We were dropping pillie cubes out the back in the current and they were just racing up and grabbing them. Put a hook into one and fed it out with a sprinkling of others. Just on light gear with about No2 hook no weight. njsconst
I fished off the Great Barrier Reef years ago chasing spanish mackeral and sharks and we were using them as live bait. Up north they are considered a rubbish fish and certianly NOT table quality. I did some spearfishing up on the outer GB Reef and the fusiliers were seen to swim in huge schools like what we see our yakka's doing down here off Sydney. Catching them off SWR must be a sign that the warm water is pushing down the coast. Nathan

Blairy
Hi guys these often turn up in massive schools in reefs with large pinnacles, Coffs Harbour has plenty of them in numbers near Black Rock at North Solitary. We kept a couple and skinned and filleted them and they tasted fine.
