adkel53
I picked up a brochure extolling the virtues of Saltaway in a tackle/boating shop recently. Has anyone had any experience with this product and does it work as claimed? cheers kel

Big-Pete
Saltaway does work and I think it is worth the money, I have been using it for years and I can not fault it. I bought my first batch from the US as it was about quater of the price here, you can soak parts in it straight if need be ie; youve drowned you reel or you can dilute as per the instructions and spray on leave it sit for a little while then wash , it leaves a protective film so the more you use it the better it works, would I get it on my line, I try not to, not sure it would hurt but better off not to in my opinion. BFB
I think salt away is great. I am not sure how well it works in the motor as I have not had to pull the motor down to check but I use it to wash the boat and I can tell it breaks down the salt on the boat down and makes washing the boat boat a dream. I have used it when the windscreen is covered with salt. I have just sprayed it on. Left it for a couple of minutes and then rinsed of with fresh water. All the salt had gone. Makes my life easy. finin
Kel, great stuf thats all i can say and worth it. We did a little experiment two years ago and the experiment is still going. We completely saturated a reel in salt away, we have left the reel in saltwater for two years straight. At the end of its days use it is put back into the salt water. This reel has never seen fresh water and is as good as the day we bought it, drags are fine, bearings are fine. So if it does this to reels all i can say it would be a godsend on Outboards.
