Secho
Headed out last Thursday in pristine conditions, light breeze, sunny day, 24 degree blue waters. Searched about our blue mackerel spots for about 2 hours without any luck at all before heading out to Botany Wide FAD for a crack at some dollies. We landed only one legal with lots of juvenile fish swimming about - some bigger ones were sounding but we had no luck with baits or soft plastics. From there we headed wide and in 230 fathoms the short corner was taken on a Pakula Hot Head Beer Barrel, 318mm in Blue Green The fish was pretty active and in the first run we were sure it was about to tangle with the shotgun when it leaped straight over the top of it and cleared it by about 2 feet! After about 40 minutes we had the fish boat side with a tag ready to go however we weren't able to swim it away so we brought it on board. From there we marked another good fish on the southern side of Browns however with no livies aboard we couldn't raise it. We continued further wide where the long liners had gear all over the shop and on to Heatons without success. Coming home we hooked up on the same southern side of Browns however the hooks didn't stick. All in all a great day out and we took the fish back to the pub where the bouncers were delighted.. they cut it up with a saw and took to it raw! Will be out there tomorrow on 21 (Reel Game) if any raiders are about. Cheers Marty
Dangas
Congrats on blooding the new boat. It looks like a nicely set up rig. We went out the next day on Friday and did the same run from the Fads out to Browns and back for Zilch. The water looked nice and blue and absolutely no swell, but we werent as fortunate. Oh well thats fishing. Good to see someone getting into some marlin in Sydney.

Secho
Well done Marty good to see that the time you have been putting in is starting to show some rewards. How did the boat run? Cheers Damo Going like a dream now mate.. Went for a long run out of Botany on Tuesday with Doc and Cammo - from Botany to the Station the water was shitty green and 20.9 degrees, headed wide of the bait station and found great water, temp shot up to 23.6.. sounded 3 good fish along the 500 fathom line however didn't raise anything for the day. Cheers Marty PS: Here's a laugh for you Damo.. I took a couple of shots with the Gopro early on in the day to see if the angles were right, somehow turned it on to time lapse photography, took 2900 photo's from Sydney to the FAD then when we hooked the Blue we got just over 1 minute of footage and the battery went flat! LOL! Missed all the action of the fish jumping about!
