rikkigilbey Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 just wandering what the norm is for the depth at which live baits are suspended under a float when fishing, for say, kings. an do you include a sinker? or allow the live bait to free swim? Thanks Gilbey
aeb870 Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I am sure someone else probably has more experience, but I keep it simple. Around 2m or so from the float and no sinker.
Jew Stalker Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I want the livie to be able to swim around a bit when I am fishing off the rocks and like for it to be able to swim wherever it wants in a little zone that covers a bit of an area but will stand out to fishies around. I have a leader up to and over 3 metres long sometimes under the float. When I am fishing from a boat I will either make it about 2 metres and drop it to the bottom or wherever the fish are and let it do its work from there or put it on a paternoster rig which has worked quite well for me before with the kingies on 50lb FC leader.
rikkigilbey Posted April 18, 2012 Author Posted April 18, 2012 awesome thanks for response guys gilbey
abiasin Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 off the stones i generally fishmid to top water for the kings as i find they dont mind coming up for a fish. when chasing cobes i fish deep! good luck mate.
