imgoin Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Hi all have had a problem with my coxcraft rumrunner2 ever since i brought it back in 2004 The problem is i can never get a full tank of fuel into it.Will only allow me to fill the tank to about 3/4,80 liters instead of 135 liters, and if you put the fuel in to quick it bubbles up and flows straight back out the filler.Have also noticed it comes out of the breather sometimes so im thinking the breather isnt blocked. I just want 2 know where everyones breather is located on there tanks mine is right beside the filler hose at the rear of the tank . When the boat is sitting on the trailer the front of the tank is up alot higher than the rear maybe this is the problem as the filler is at the rear of the boat. will add photo of the way it is set up tonight as the boat is at work. Any info would be great .
Testlab Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 (edited) If the breather is located at the back end of the tank (stern end) then you may never be able to fill it unless the boat is level or perhaps inclined nose downwards a little. If the breather is at the forward end then it should be ok. The breather point of the tank may get covered by fuel as it fills if it is at the rear, the increasing pressure in the tank of the air trapped there then pushes fuel out the breather or filler. If it sputters and sprays before it starts running out this is from the air blowing through as it equalizes pressure. Edited April 22, 2012 by Testlab
Ian J Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Have a simular problem, which seem to be the norm with boat fuel tanks. To fill I take off the breather line and blow back the fuel that ends up in the line then I can fill with no problems. (Its that much of a pain I normally fill with jerry cans at home ) I would try dropping the front as much as possible to let the tank breath when filling
