Jewfish Help

Hey guys,

Heading out in botany bay this weekend and hoping to land my first Jew. I have never targeted jews before and am hoping for a few tips.

Going to get out there mid arvo and spend the night out there. Hope the weather is good!

Bait? Livies? Gear? Rig? Location? Shallow/Deep Water? Tide?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Anyone had any success recentły?

Great info. Took me about 13 attempts within a 2 year period too land my first. Came out to be 89cm.

mate best i can help ya is fresh squid and fishish structure near the bridges 10/0 hooks on a snelled rig and you should get them send me a pm if you need any more info

If your going to use yakkas hook it through the top lip or both. For squid a 2 hook snelled rig as mentioned by "SQUDIN" is best!

i personally like using 2 hook snelled rig for my livies i put a hook thru the nose and one just behind the neck just a personal thing not to say 1 hook isnt enough

Fair enough mate, ive done that before. The only problem i found is that the yakka dies a fair bit faster. If the fish are there they should take it by then i suppose

i dnt pierce the meat that deep on the boat you dont need to cast it so you chances of losing the arnt great at all but land based i only use the 1 hook rig
