Robofish Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Hi Raiders, Me and my dad decided to have a crack at some beach shark fishing in Middle Harbour after we caught one as a bycatch from Long Reef. We set two rods with wire traces and single hooks baited with slabs of bonito or chunks of squid and from the second hour of the run out we were getting double hook ups and great sport with bronzies up to around 15kg and we were hooked! I did get bitten off a couple of times on 40lb wire so decided to go tooled up next time. We went back the following week with new 90lb traces with 2x6/0 hooks and 100lb up traces (as I got rubbed through landing one the previous week), this time we fished the last couple I hours of the run in and guess what - no bites!!! Could this be because I had stepped up my tackle? Or because it was a different state of the tide? Also there was a lot more colour in the water, would that have made a difference? I really thought I had cracked the code for these small bronzies but apparently not!!! Any thoughts would be appreciated. Dave Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
