Hi raiders

Before going for a fish last night I decided to take the chivas regal 18yo along, as I do enjoy a good scotch. Anyhow, after a few nips everything was warm and fuzzy, I see one of my rods buckle ( had the glowy thing on the tip ) as I reach forward to get it my iPhone fall out of where ever I thought I had it, and I was highly aware it was falling and at that instance in time it slowed right down up until the point it bounced off a rock and landed in half a metre of water.

I left the rod with the fish on the end of it and stuck my arm in the water and took it out.... The next 5 minutes was painful, I turned the phone of the 3 times and it turned itself on every time, then it went to the apple logo and flash for the camera was turning on and off and that went on for an hour.

At this stage I had partially accepted in my head the phone was gone, and even if it did turn on, the speakers might be ruined or something else. As we had a lantern present I left the iPhone on top of it for 20 second patches until the remainder of the evening, when I got ge put my sim into another phone I had and left the iPhone on the bedside table.

This morning when I got up I threw it on the charger and walked away. 10 minutes later I heard the little tone that signifies its charging, I'm thinking this is good, when it got up to 10% battery I called my brother and guess what??? It worked!! I could hear him, could hear me and I was high fiving the air... Then one more test remained, can I post on fishraider ... Slightly nervous and with sweaty palms I hit the tapatalk ap and here we are lady's and gentlemen pressing send..... Now.

We have lift off.... Yes it works but it like holding a peice of toast that just came out of the toaster..... We'll see how we go with that......

hey mate,

sucks about the phone, but what was on the rod??

happy to hear its working again, but if it was in salt water you might want to take it apart and clean it with some distilled water to remove any residual salt. they also say to put it in a bag of rice in a zip lock bag to remove any moisture.

as for taking them apart, there are a few websites that send out kits, relatively cheaply, with the tools necessary, cant quite remember the name tho,

hope it continues to work for you

The phone died, but not all was lost...

Inside iPhones there are markers which indicate if a phone is water damaged, when I took it to the phone kiosk the young man there, who was very helpful, asked me if I was sure I water damaged it because these little markers said it wasn't water damaged, I must have got it out of the water fast enough for water not to penetrate.... so I was able to take the phone to apple and get a brand new replacement for $179.

Ps it was a good whiting on the line.
