Fished further up near Yowie Bay, in the deep, early this morning. Caught a couple of yellowtail, used them for strip baits, plus pilchards.

Landed a small jew about 50cm, sent back to grow up, plus 2 tailor over 40cm and 2 small reddies about 31cm. Better than nothing. Little reddies stripped a pilchard off the hooks, so as I was retrieving the hooks at a fast rate to re-bait, one of the tailor grabbed the bare hooks. Happens quite often with tailor, but not a tailor seen to be jumping anywhere near me.

Drifted Lilli Pilli flats for 1 whiting at 30cm, plus plenty of throw backs. Saw some better ones about but they would not bite. The toads chewed off most of the nippers. Have found many times before that when you can see the whiting, they are probably looking back at you and will not bite. The run up tide was not moving too fast either, which can sometimes slow the bite at Lilli Pilli during daylight, although other places it does not matter.

Saw a school of bream swimming on the Gunnamatta flats, though most were under size. Blackfish increasing in numbers along the main channel near the weeds.
