ssantoro Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 I heard about Parsley Bay being a nice place to fish, so I checked it out yesterday afternoon. Once I got there I had to pull out the rod and wet my line, used fresh prawns and got nice bites all afternoon but pulled nothing out Left to go home at about 5pm but this little voice inside my head kept saying "stay, stay, stay, come back later then"...so I did with my two brother in-laws. We got back down their at 9:00 pm, rigged up and got busy. All we got for 2.5 hours were some baby snapper, an ugly eel, a rock fish and two tiny banded morwong's (I think). It looked like things had got quiet when all of a sudden I hear "ooooohhhhhh, I've got something big" and sure enough he pulled out a 23cm Tarwhine Bream He pops his lunch into a bucket, casts out into the same spot and within a minute he's on again, it looked like he'd plucked his last fish's twin, only a few CM's bigger (25.5cm). He ended up making a beautiful Thai style Bream pic below
Cuss Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 For anyone contemplating to fish at parsely bay, ill have u know that its a wonderful landbased spot to throw a line in and enjoy ur time. Conditions are usually terrific, gentle winds, little current, spectacular sights and a friendly little kiosk nearby. But fishing Me and my mate went a few days ago in hopes of reeling in a rippah. We walked just about 40meters past the wharf and stuck some camp chairs up and threw in a line. We were using squid and before we knew in, 20 minutes in. I got a rough tug and reeled up a 43-45cm flatty at around 1:30-2pm. Just be careful to not drop the fish in the rock pools as i did, but very luckily grabbed him out. We then stuck it out for 2-3 hours experimenting with other varieties of bait like pillies, prawns and mullet. Sadly we hit a slow patch. During this period we endured plenty of nibbles that did not lead to a fish being on. I recommend moving spots every hour or so if experiencing a slow run, otherwise it may but a little to how ya goin. Also recommend using squid and lures. Also fairly snag free, Good luck! cuss
Sea Shepard Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Cuss, Cool story man. Was there many other fisherman there, when I went there was a consistent stream of people flooding in like the monsoon waters in Rajasthan. Also there seemed to be a couple really cool eels in the rock pools past the wharf but they are pretty strong cause they took my hook and sinker straight off. Watch the oysters, Good Luck! big Neil Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 Great report ssantoro, good pics of the catch and the meal. What I really like though is your persistence. To go back with the B-I-Ls shows your passion for fishing, and you were rewarded. Good to see mate. BN
tyrone07 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 I can see this is an old post but that fish is a Yellowfin bream -Acanthopagrus Australis can tell by the scale line above the lateral line only having four rows, legal size is 25cms.
