Down Rigger cable

Just a quick question. My downrigger cable has become a bit worn and stiff. It doesn't slide smoothly down the rollers any more.

I heard I can replace it with 150lb braided line. And it's better because it doesn't hum through the water. Has anybody tried this or has any other ideas. Any help would be awesome. Thanks heaps.

I use 200lb braid on my downrigger and find it very good - no hum from the wire.

i use 100lb white braid for a 8lb bomb has been on my downrigger over a year now with no problems

Thanks for the reply boys and girls. I really appreciate it. I'll start rolling some braid on my down rigger this afternoon.
