Hi Raiders this is a report of sorts.......

I am here to report that I have never caught a King. I have got the black kings but never the yellow tail type and im dieing to nail one. I understand the water is going to be cooling down and the kings will be off so is there anyone who knows how or where or can take me or something to get my first king. I am land based and live in Bondi. I have a 6500 baitrunner with 50lb braid and a 4500 baitrunner with 14lb braid oh and a TLD 25 on a short stroker with 8kg but i know that will be about as useful as a wet sock.

HELP!!!

land based is very hard but offcourse still places to catch.

I know of Balmoral wharf / cliffton garden, but it is very crowded to fish ive seen kings crusing by there.

But if you look around google maps find some nice ledges around those areas will need to do walking, as Nick mentioned bait wise Yakkas/Squid but put a live yakka under a float with the smallest yakka you can get a very high chance. The tackle you have will be strong enough to handle.

Try mollinuex point at port botany. Drive there and park and hop down 10 metres walk max.. then cast a lightly weighted squid or under a float let the current take it then you will be in with a chance. People in boats anchor say 20-30 metres off the point anyways so you will be fishing amongst the boaties.

you've still got quite a bit of time, you should keep persevering all the way until the end of June. They'll be feeding like crazy in the lead up to winter.

You live at bondi, there is no better ledges in the east than Ben buckler. You can get all the squid you can manage there as well. Then there is a low ledge north side of clovelly and the Beerie, below waverly cemetey produces at times. All require cleats and a fishing buddy. Baits can be caught at all of these spots. As with all rock fishing, pick your days. McKenzies produces a few as well. The more

Productive ledges to the south around maroubra get crowded, and the cliffs at south Coogee have produces plenty of rats over summer on top of the shallow reef.
