J Hooked Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 They fight well and they get you all excited until they surface! And then.... I have heard that they are ok to eat.
wchh Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 That is my usual catch from the sand at dusk. They do not seem to fight at all? Never tried to eat they are they do not look like fish.

The ones I have caught were quite large. They didn't pull like a normal fish with head shakes they just stripped a lot of line. I suppose their size and strength enable them to pull hard. As for eating??? I'm not game, but I have heard they are similar to flake.
Woody 540F Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Solid fish well done. Just add it to your PB but dont bother eating there not worth the effort.
Keflapod Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Hey Steve, I have to disagree with Woody as I have eaten them many times. They are very nice to my taste but do require some cleaning. You gotta cut the fillets off then skin them - not so easy. They are messy to clean though... Then crumb and fry - add some tartare sauce and you won't be letting them go. By the way, that checkerplate deck looks new. Barcrusher or custom platey ? Tony
