Headed down to Clifton Gardens for a crack off the jetty but not much was happening for me, there were a couple of fiarly large 20ish cm squid cruising around in the baths, and just as I arrived one bloke pulled one out of the water on a golden brown yamashita jig, I saw something big probably 60-70cm in the water but couldnt get a positive ID on it, also saw a 80+cm long tom cruising on the surface just off the jetty heading back out from the shallows, I was armed with some stale bread and fresh pilchards minced together as burley had the regular pillies (one of each fresh and frozen) on gang hanging out in the water but was also armed with some prawns and some old squid from the last fishing trip...

I didnt get a single thing all night, as it was getting close to home time I chucked on a 5inch berkley gulp jerk shad in nuclear chicken with a 1/4oz jighead and sent it out for a flick... I had one bite which took the last half inch or so of the tail and that was it!

My fried who I took with me hooked onto what he thought was a rock only to discover that it was a rather ugly ocean toad but lets be real it might as well have been a rock..it was taken on a prawn for all you mad keen toad fishos out there and swallowed the hook and half of the wire trace which I wasnt too bothered about getting back..but then another bloke on the jetty came and grabbed it off us to go and show his mate and then threw it back in the water :|

Other people on the jetty landed some yakkas and a pike and there were a couple of squid taken too, some blokes on the end of the jetty were pulling fish in but it was a bit crowded as usual and I didnt want to be invading anyones space so i didnt see what they were actually landing but it was a fun way to spend a few hours anyway :)

Nice report.

Probably a tailor had a go at your soft plastic.

Haven't been there in ages. Always gets so crowded, and I tend to come home empty handed like yourself.

However, it's a lovely spot regardless.
