Yowie Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Fished Gymea Bay early this morning for a change, towards the north end. Anchored about 20 metres from the shore, so I could throw back towards the rocks for bream, or fish the deeper water as well. Pulled out 1 bream about 30cm, and had another one reef me before the little reddies moved in. Threw out a few lines with different baits. The squid and bonito strips only produced a couple of little reddies, the pilchards produced 2 tailor of 45 and 57cm, and a flounder. The flounder and bream were returned. The tailor took the pilchards from the bottom in the deep water. The bigger one took some line off at a quick pace, and make several high leaps out of the water. Thought it was a salmon at first. Headed to Grays Point flats, but the tide was a bit high, so could only manage about 10 nippers as the water was too deep (above the knees). Still managed 5 whiting (one smaller one released) to 40cm. Worth the cold start. Yowie.
