Tyre reef port hacking

I know this has been brought up before. But I thought it may spark new conversation and talking about the surprised tyre reef i previously thought it was south west arm but someone brought it up to me recently and said it was near dark bay or at least along that shoreline somewhere. Does anyone have any other ideas about where it is. Or even better pinpoint it for me. I would like to find out I have done research and couldn't find much at all. I will most likely do sounder runs in the areas I expect and then I want to dive on it if I can end up finding it.

i think it was a dumping ground more then a purpose made reef but its near the stone wall as u enter SWA on the right about 200m south of the old wreck boat shed thats rotting away..

ps i have gotten some good 1kg+ squid from around there

About 25 years ago my Grandfather gave me one of his old fishing books which had maps of the Hacking. From memory there were a few tyre reefs and they were all in the now silted up parts of the hacking, the entrance to Burraneer Bay and South West arm come straight to mind. I will have the book somewhere but with going through a divorce and all my crap packed up the books are in a box somewhere and I may not get to them for 6 months, but when I do I will definately see what I can find.

Mako that would be great and I haven't really spent much time in the area you described mcfishen I will have to have a look. And I did the exact same when it was brought up last time but couldn't dig up a thing onearmedfisho. It just pooped into my head the other day and I thought Id bring it up again to see if anyone may have known

There is one in Burraneer Bay about 300 meters north if the large Lilly Philly sand bar

Readily found in a sounder good for small reef fish
