mt0311 Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Looking at getting a new rod for the stones, was looking at this rod : Nitro Rockstar 10-20kg, 10' http://www.innovatorrods.com/nitro-rockstar.html Anyone own this rod? Any feedbacks? Just wondering what size reel would suit this would a 4000 be too small? Will be heading to a tackle store this weekend to check the rod out. Any suggestions would be welcomed!
Blood Knot Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Reckon your pretty close to the money with a #4000 to #5000 size reel - may be think about reel ratio (retrieve speed)as well if you are going to be cranking metal. Cheers Blood Knot
mt0311 Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 Sounds good! Thanks for that Blood Knot, I've got a Shimano Bio Master 4000 XG 6.2 to 1 sitting at home, looks like won't have to get another reel to match it. Superb!!!
Nolongeramember Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 4000 will be way too small for this rod. A 4500 Daiwa may even be on the small side. Nitro under rate their rods and I dont know this particular one but it sounds like it has some serious grunt. What store are you getting it from? They would be able to help you better to match it to a reel but definitly 4500+.
mt0311 Posted May 11, 2012 Author Posted May 11, 2012 Hey Roylo, Thanks - I will drop by Compleat at Villawood to see if they have it in stock - and yes I do know what you mean, I'm a fan of nitro rods, got the powerbream and magnum butt and i understand what you mean about under rating. they have a lot of grunt. I ask the boys in the store tomorrow. Thanks gents, have a nice weekend - tight lines
