If you want to get into beach fishing then you've picked a good time. During Winter there's loads of Salmon and Tailor along most beaches. Just grab some ganged hooks and a block of pillies and your good to go! Try fishing really any of the northern beaches (ie; Whale Beach, Newport, Bilgola, Dee Why) and make sure you find a good gutter. Better results should come from a run in tide or the top of the tide!

Good luck!

Try newport narrabeen up north...wanda garie stanwell down south...best time late afternoon from 4pm onwards...use pilchards for bait on a two hook or ganged hook rig with big star sinker..u can catch salmon tailor flathead and even a jew if u r lucky...goodluck...

If ur not wanting to travel so far the cronulla beaches wanda and green hills should be fishing well for species like salmon and tailor. Another beach thats a little closer is maroubra which i've had personal success at on whiting, salmon and dart and is defiantly worth ago.

Hope this helps
