tba003 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 (edited) Hey guys me an a few mates are staying at myola caravan park in jervis bay this weekend and il be taking my boat with us. I seen some videos opf kings being caught there but am completely new to fishing there an would greatly appreciate any info on bait collection locations an if possible where i could come across some kings. Any info would be much appreciated thanks guys. Edited May 14, 2012 by tba003
Benzeenees Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 (edited) Haven't been there for a while, but we came across heaps of yakkas between the Murray's Beach ramp and Bowen Island. Get a map of the marine national park as there are some sanctuary zones in that area. There are kings at the Middle Ground about half way between Bowen Is (on the south side) and Longnose Point (on the north side). There can also be big kings near the bommie off Longnose Point. But the water is shallow so you'll probably get reefed! And watch out for the bommie! There can also be kings off Point Perpendicular. You should be able to find some GPS marks if you do a search. tba003 Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 Does anyone knwo if my 12foot run about with 15hp outboard would be suitable for jervis bay an where would be the best place to launch from given that il be staying at myola.
richard_pdc Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Husky ramp is a two min drive perfect for a tinny . Leave the ramp and got to the right and follow the shore line there is hundreds of meters of kelp you can catch squid very common to get a dozen in no time then keeping going till you get to Vincetia rowing club (about 800 meters ) away you will see a boundary marker for the marine park burley up for yakkas . Then keeping driving to your right you will see A point about two ks away it's called plantation point there is a marker that indicates you are out of the marine zone burley up in front of the white marker and fish for kings up high and table fish down low (bream ,flathead whiting) great place to fish . Very calm great for tinny . If it's to rough go to old erowal bay boat ramp at st George's basin leave the ramp and drift to right as far as you can stay in 6 to 7 meters of water you should bag out on flatheads Your a lucky man the bay has so many options so there is always a chance to fish . Hope this helps Ritchie
cheap charlie Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Hi Mate, you should be fine inside most of the bay in your little boat as long as there is not to much chop. Personally i would not be venturing out to the mouth of the bay in that size boat unless you luck a dead flat day and you know what you are doing.
Benzeenees Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 From Myola your best option for launching would be Callala Bay - access is from Boorawine St. Don't go to Huskisson - it's over the creek from Myola and its a long slow run up the creek to the Bay. I don't think you should go out to Longnose Point in a 12 ft boat. It's about 11km and the Bay can get quite choppy. Focus on squid, tailor, flathead etc.
